Message from the President
As President of the Tyler County Chamber of Commerce, I welcome you to east
Texas and a county full of happy people with laid back attitudes. When you
visit, you will find southern hospitality from our citizens and southern beauty
from our large forests and sparkling lakes for camping, fishing and swimming.
Our rolling hills give magnificent views of tall pine trees interspersed in the
spring with blooming dogwood and redbud trees.
Woodville is the county seat and home of the Tyler County Chamber of Commerce.
Each spring the county hosts the Tyler County Dogwood Festival which includes a
parade and a historical play. It is the oldest outdoor pageant in Texas and
always held the first weekend in April. The last weekend in March is Tyler
County Western Weekend with a western parade and rodeo. The weekend prior to
Western Weekend is Festival of the Arts with activities at Heritage Village and
Emporium for the Arts.
The Tyler County Fair is held each fall with animal judging, an FFA/4H auction
and carnival rides. The first weekend of December is Christmas in Tyler County.
This features residents and guests in Dickens era costumes, the arrival of Santa
and the lighting of the courthouse square. Present at all of these events are
booths featuring arts & crafts and delicious food. Check out our website
throughout the year for other great family activities.
Tyler County is the northern entrance of the Big Thicket National Preserve where
you can find eco-tourism treasures. Come see us and discover a great place to
visit, to work and to live. Again, welcome and thank you for visiting our
website.
