Message from the President

Welcome friends, neighbors, and visitors,
I would like to express my sincere and most heartfelt WELCOME to Tyler County and to Woodville, the “Dogwood Capital.” Tyler County is nestled in the heart of the “Big Thicket” and is equal distant from Lufkin to our north, Beaumont to our south and Jasper and Livingston to our east and west.
In the past few years Tyler County has seen growth in our business community with a new Wal-Mart Super Center, a new Bealls Department Store, several new restaurants and other quaint shops which add to our economy. Of course we still have the old stores which have made their mark in history like Sullivans and Jarrots. We have several Bed and Breakfasts which have opened in our county as well a new hotel in Woodville. We are continuing to look for new business’ that will fit in our idyllic setting and provide jobs while protecting our delicate
Eco-System.
Tyler County has seen growth in our school districts and we are excited about the new students and teachers who are moving to our area to pursue a more simple way of life. Parents looking for a quieter lifestyle in which to raise their families are finding just that in Tyler County. We have positioned ourselves as a retirement destination and are enjoying the growth in our retiree population. With the cost of living and the congestion of the larger cities many people who have led corporate lives find the appeal of our beautiful countryside, tall forest and wonderful lakes hard
to resist.
With Woodville being the county seat we enjoy a hospital with a newly expanded emergency room. Our healthcare system includes medical doctors, dentist, chiropractic services, a new dialysis center, as well as nutrition and natural healing providers. We also have several massage therapists in our area. Several really good Nursing homes are located in Tyler County and we have an assisted living facility which is first rate.
We have several annual events which bring tourist to our area and we are always looking for ways to expand and improve them. The annual Western Weekend, which is the last weekend in March with its horse parade and rodeo bring in cowboys from all over the area. I t is followed by the Dogwood festival the first weekend in April which is a long standing and very well attended event. In September we hold the annual Tyler County Music festival and Trade Fair which is growing each year to become a great event. October is the month for the Tyler County Fair and the first weekend in December is the annual Lighting of the Square and Christmas in Tyler County when Santa Clause comes to town. The Heritage Village has many events throughout the year as does Triple Creek Music & RV and Paradise RV parks. So you see we have lots to do in Tyler County.
It is our sincere hope that each and every one of you will come for a weekend getaway or join our community on a more permanent basis as a full time resident. We welcome you all.
